Terms

Last updated: 14 October 2026. This page is kept in English only, so the wording stays exact for everyone.

1. Agreement

These terms cover your use of TOMPA, a free website for learning to code: websites (HTML, CSS, JavaScript), data (JSON, SQL), backend (Node.js) and games (Lua). By creating an account or using the site you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

2. Who can use TOMPA

You must be at least 13 years old to create your own account. Younger learners are welcome to learn with TOMPA through an account that a parent or guardian creates and manages for them, and that parent or guardian is responsible for that account. Anyone can try the first lesson of a course without an account.

3. Accounts

To save your progress you create an account with a name, an email address and a password. Please give accurate details, keep your password secret, and do not share your account with anyone else. You are responsible for activity that happens under your account.

4. Your code and your final projects

The code you write in the lessons and in the Playground runs in your own browser, and it is yours. Lesson drafts you have not submitted are kept only on your device. When you send a course's final project for review, its code is stored on our server so that a person from TOMPA can review it and answer you by email; you keep the rights to it, and you allow us to read, run and keep it for that purpose. Reviews and certificates are given at our discretion and are not a formal qualification.

5. Course content

The lessons, exercises, exams, text and curriculum on TOMPA belong to the site. You are welcome to use them to learn, but please do not copy, republish or resell them elsewhere without permission.

6. Acceptable use

Do not try to break, overload, scrape or gain unauthorised access to the site, its database, or other people's accounts, and do not use the site to harm anyone, to send harmful code, or to submit false information. Accounts used this way may be suspended or deleted without notice.

7. Publishing your own site

If the Playground's publishing feature is turned on, an account may publish one site, live at its own address. Published sites are created by learners, not by TOMPA, and are kept out of search engines. Publishing is blocked automatically for content that looks illegal or hacking-related (a best-effort check, not a guarantee), and any published site — including one the automatic check missed — can be taken down at any time for breaking these rules, without notice. A visitor to a taken-down or unknown address does not see a copy of your project or your account details, only a generic notice.

8. Advertising

TOMPA is free, and it is paid for by advertising. Ads may appear on the site's pages and are provided by Google and its partners, who choose them; TOMPA does not endorse the advertised products. Ads are never shown on sites that learners publish. See the Privacy Policy for how advertising uses cookies and how to control it.

9. The service

The site is provided "as is" and free of charge. Lessons, features and the curriculum can change or be removed at any time. We take reasonable care of the site and your data, but we cannot promise it will always be available, error-free, or that data will never be lost.

10. Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time from the Account page. Deleting it permanently removes your profile, lesson progress, final projects and any published site, as described in the Privacy Policy.

11. Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated from time to time as the site changes. The date at the top of this page shows when they were last revised.
